3 awkward raps is a companion project to our 2022 LP "Life's Hard" This is an EP with three raps (and instrumentals) that we made while recording LH. Its nerdcore, jokey, and backpack ala Aesop Rock, Lil Dickey, MF DOOM. Rap has been a huge part of our creative process and inspiration, and we like making beats. This companion project started on accident. We record drums in Craig's basement, and at a certain point we have to stop due to not pissing off the neighbors. One night during one of our first sessions for Life's Hard, we were doing some edits on the day's work and I pulled up a beat for shits and giggles. We started just making shit up, freestyling into the overhead drum mic so we didn't disturb any mic positioning for the next day. It was spontaneous with no plan, no vision, and because of that no filter. We kept making up lines and let the song shape itself, having not only a blast but laughing our asses off at 3 in the morning slap happy. Since then, every recording session we come prepared with a beat. Each song on 3 awkward raps was made in a single night, nothing premeditated besides the track. shit is really goofy but so much fun to make. 3AM emo-folk-rap.
